Lake Anne is the brainchild of Reston founder Robert E Simon, Jr., who conceptualized a planned development of village centers in Reston.  Lake Anne is the first of five village centers comprising residential and commercial space.

Take a walk through the Lake Anne Plaza and you will find lots to do.  If you are feeling energetic – you can rent a kayak or pedal boat on the Lake.  Rentals are available on the weekends through Labor Day.

If you are hungry – Lake Anne is home to three sit-down restaurants.

Cafe Marmonte is a French and Vietnamese restaurant offering classic dishes in a casual atmosphere.  If you are in the mood for Greek or Italian  food – then Kalypso Sports Tavern is the place to go.  This family owned business offers a variety of classic dishes and can also sit on their large patio and enjoy outdoor dining.  At the Lake Anne Coffee and Wine House you can get a little of everything whether you are looking for dinner, a glass of wine, or coffee and pastry.  They also have an outdoor patio where you can sit and people watch.

For your sweet tooth craving head over to Chesapeake Chocolates for a variety of delicious handcrafted chocolates, Virginia wines and unique food gifts.

If you have a hankering for pretzels, Nordic Knot is the place to go. With a variety of pretzels, pretzel dogs, pretzel birthday pretzel braids and charcuterie pretzel braids.

At the Lake Anne Brew House you can sample a variety of in-house hand crafted beers.  Join the beer run club every Saturday at 9:45 for a fun run around the lake followed by a pint of beer.

There is a wonderful Farmers Market at Lake Anne every Saturday from 8:00 AM to noon. With over 30 local vendors selling seafood, fruits, vegetables, cheese, and many more items – it is a popular event.

There is plenty of opportunity to shop as well.  If you are in the mood for a good book check out the Reston Used Book Store. They also host several events including a Bluegrass Jam, Art in Public Places and Reston Readings Series and Literary Roundtables.

Spend some time in the Reston Museum to brush up on Reston history identifying it as one of the first planned communities in the United States.  The museum hosts annual events including Founder’s Day, Cardboard Boat Regatta and historic walking tours.
