Time to begin a new 2022 calendar to fill with fresh things to do.  This month we found a variety of events in music, live theater, museum exhibits as well as some good old-fashioned Monster Jam BIG trucks.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood
This performance is a murder mystery based on an unfinished novel of Charles Dickens and shows as a play within a play.  Audience participation is required as the audience helps identify the murderer.

Dancing With The Stars Live Tour
The popular dance show takes to the stage making a local stop at MGM Grand as part of its national tour.

Rock the Rink at The Wharf
Make your way to The Wharf to Rock the Rink with the Washington Capitals. While skating there will be giveaways and music by a live DJ and Caps fans can watch a live broadcast of the Capitals game agains the NY Islanders on the Jumbotron.

Falcons: The Art of the Hunt
Take an afternoon and learn about the iconic Falcon in this new exhibit at The Freer Gallery. The falcon is associated with Egypt’s Horus, god of the heavens and later trained for skillful hunting.  This exhibit contains selected paintings and objects from Egypt and China to honor the falcon.

Winter Lanterns at The REACH
Celebrate the Lunar New Years at the Kennedy Center!  The Reach again presents Winter Lanterns – a gorgeous display of 100 lanterns crafted by Chinese artisans.  This exhibit is completely outdoors.

The Mountaintop
Ford’s Theater brings playwright Katori Hall’s play about civil rights icon Martin Luther King to it s stage this month.  The play, tells a reimagined story o  the events of the night before his assasination, after giving his infamous I’ve Been To The Mountaintop speech.

Change Agent
The Arena Stage brings this new play from award winning playwright, Craig Lucas which imagines interactions between a variety of important figures in history. Change Agent is the recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award.

The Simon and Garfunkel Story
The Simon and Garfunkel Story makes its way to The National Theater this month for three shows only.  This immersive concert-style show tells the story of the poplar folk duo Simon and Garfunkel through photographs, original footage and video projections with a live band performing their songs.
