There is lots to do in Northern Virginia this month whether you want to catch an outdoor concert, pick strawberries, meet your comic book hero or plan a fun event with Dad for Father’s Day.

Awesome Con
Head down to the Washington Convention Center for DC’s local Comic Con.  Fans can Meet the cast of Marvel’s ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ and many other special guests. This year they will also be bringing back Destination Cosplay, book fair and Comic Con, Jr which will offer crafts and activities for younger fans.

Justin Bieber at Capital One Arena
Bieber brings his “Justice World Tour” to the DC area with this performance. The tour also includes performances by Jaden Smith, Harry Hudson and Teo.

New York City Ballet
The Company returns to the Kennedy Center with its interpretation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Rock The Block
Fairfax City’s favorite outdoor concert.  Held on the last Friday of the month (May through October)  this outdoor concert features live music, food from local restaurants and a beer garden. This month enjoy the musical stylings of The Perfekt Blend Band. Bring a blanket or chair to sit on and come enjoy the show.

Go Strawberry Picking
There are several pick you brown strawberry farms in Virginia and in early June the strawberry’s are sweet and plentiful.  Plan a day to head out to pick your own strawberries at Wegmeyer Farms, Hollin Farms, Yankey Farms, Green Truck Farm

Things To Do with Dad on Father’s Day Weekend

47th Sully Antique Car Show
This local car show returns this month after a two-year hiatus.  The show hosts  approximately 350 classic and antique cars, as well as a Car Corral, a take-apart Model T Ford, and a flea market. There will also be live music, a car parade and food from local vendors.

Portside Summer Festival
Grab the family and head to Old Town and enjoy this free festival with live music, local craft beer from Port City Brewing Company and activities on Alexandria waterfront. New this year, the event coincides with the 44th Annual Alexandria Jazz Fest on Friday evening which will treat festival goers to live jazz performances. Saturday the festival continues with a variety of musical performances.

Columbia Pike Blues Festival
Returning for the first time since Covid, this local festival showcases live blues, jazz, and bluegrass music as well, craft beer and wine and local food vendors. There will also be activities for the kids.

Manassas Jazz Festival
Enjoy live outdoor jazz music and dueling pianos at this “1930s Cotton Club atmosphere” jazz festival.  Held at the Harris Pavillion this year, bring a chair or blanket to sit on. Tickets required.

Innovations in Flight Family Day and Outdoor Aviation Display
Grab Dad and head out to the Udvar-Hazyy Center for this annual outdoor event where you can explore more than 50 aircraft design innovations of the past century. Pilots will be available to answer questions about their aircraft.  There will also be a free screening of Into Flight Once More at 10 am in the Airbus IMAX Theatre.
