Spring is here and with it comes  a variety of fun outdoor events to join whether you want to attend  Jazz in the Garden, the Virginia Renaissance Faire, the Manassas Viking Festival or listen to local bands play at Fairfax City’s Rock the Block.  

Tour the Mormon Temple
Open to the public for the first time in 50 years the temple will be open to the public for a short time this spring through June 11th. The tours are free and don’t require reserved tickets but parking spots are limited and must be reserved in advance.  Visitors can also reserve tickets to ride a shuttle bus from the Forest Glen Metro Station on weekday evenings and Saturdays.

C&O Canal Boat Tours
For the first time in over a decade you can take a guided boat tour of the C&O Canal.  Visitors will learn about its history and stories of the people that lived and worked along the canal in the past 200 years.

Virginia Renaissance Fair
Immerse yourself in all things Renaissance as you stroll the grounds of the Renaissance Fair. Lots to see and do including jousting, live music and dance, cooking and blacksmiths demonstrations, archers and over 60 vendors.

Town of Herndon – Big Truck Days
Pack your truck lovers in the car and head to Big Truck Day where kids can climb, touch and explore the town’s big trucks and heavy equipment on display. Visitors are asked to bring a non perishable food donation.

Manassas Viking Festival 
Calling all Viking fans!  Bring the family and come out to this festival which includes live reenactments as well as live music, dance performances, nordic breed dogs,  Althing Norweig and and Icelandic horses

DC Funk Parade Day Festival
Enjoy live outdoor music on four stages at the 8th annual DC Funk Parade Day Festival.   Enjoy live music on four stages .  Food and beverage will be available to purchase.

Around the World Embassy Tour
A great opportunity to visit over 30 embassies at the annual Around the World Embassy tour. There will be several on-site activities from karate demonstrations to dance performances and sari-wrapping lessons.

Jazz in the Garden
Mark your calendars: Friday Jazz in the Garden concerts returns to the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden.  While enjoying the live music you can also enjoy food and beverage from several vendors.  Concert is free but visitors need to reserve tickets in advance.

Fiesta Asia Street Fair
Celebrate over 20 Asian cultures at the 17th Fiesta Asia Street Fair will celebrate AAPI Heritage Month in downtown DC with a day of festivities representing over 20 cultures across Asia. There will be live music, a cultural parade, traditional and contemporary Asian crafts, and a variety of Asian cuisines from local restaurants and vendors.

Fairfax City Rock the Block
