As we enter September and the last official weekend of the summer – there is a lot to do in the area to celebrate Labor Day weekend and fun for the entire month!

LABOR DAY FUN

DC Jazzfest
DC Jazzfest at the wharf is the District’s premier jazz festival.  Held annually, it showcases local and national jazz musicians in various venues through the city as well as free concerts at the Wharf.

LoCO Musicians Festival
A great way to spend a weekend day enjoying wine and live music. Bring a blanket or a tent, set up lawn chairs, and just enjoy music from over 25 local musicians all day long.  The event is a fundraiser to help local musicians buy equipment.

Virginia Scottish Games
A great way to celebrate Scottish culture. The festival includes a variety of athletic competitions including the popular Scottish Heavy Athletics caber (tree) toss, piping and drum performances, dance performances, a British car show, a variety of workshops and children’s games along with live music throughout both days which encompass the spirit of the Scottish Games.

23rd Annual Labor Day Car Show
Calling all car lovers.  This annual local event in Fairfax City includes over 300 cars as well as vendors and it is a fundraiser for various local charities. Many nearby restaurants are open to have lunch.

HOME & GARDEN TOURS

There is no better way to garner inspiration for your home than to tour some of the beautiful gardens in Northern Virginia. others. This month there is the opportunity to take in the classic architecture of historic homes during the 80th Historic Homes Tour in Old Town Alexandria

September is the start of Oktoberfest—it is also the 2nd Annual Old Town Cocktail Week, Sept. 9-18 —and while there are numerous ones that will be happening throughout the NoVA area this fall, here are a few to get on your calendar:

FOR THE DOGS

Dog Daze at the Water Mine is sending off summer right by opening up the pool to all water-loving pups. On Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and a suggested donation of $10 going to the animal shelter, pups can take over the pools at Lake Fairfax Park and have one final summer dip.

Dog Fest
Families and their furry friends are invited to join for a day of fun, festivities, contests, dog demonstrations and more at Reston Town Square Park! This event is a fundraiser for Canine Companions.
