CONCERTS

This month big names are coming to town that run the gamut of musical genres:

  • Sister Hazel, Sept. 4: The 1990s alt-rock band set the tune to many popular movies and shows and was the soundtrack to the youth of decades ago. Relive your past at Tally Ho Theater.
  • Maroon 5, Sept. 7: Maroon 5 steps on the stage at Jiffy Lube live with guest performances by Meghan Trainer and Leon Bridges.
  • Harry Styles, Sept. 18: Pop icon Harry Styles, out on his Love on Tour, takes on Capital One Arena.
FOR THE DOGS

Dog Daze at the Water Mine is sending off summer right by opening up the pool to all water-loving pups. On Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and a suggested donation of $10 going to the animal shelter, pups can take over the pools at Lake Fairfax Park and have one final summer dip.

STAND-UP

Getting in some laughs is good for the soul.

  • Jim Gaffigan, Sept. 10-12: Over at Constitution Hall, Gaffigan brings his The Fun Tour to the stage.
  • Patton Oswalt, Sept. 17: Northern Virginia native Patton Oswalt returns home to give some digs with his Who’s Ready to Laugh? tour at the Kennedy Center.
HOME & GARDEN TOURS

There is no better way to garner inspiration for your home than to tour others. This month there is the opportunity to check out mid-century modern residences in the famed Hollin Hills neighborhood, Sept. 25, and take in the classic architecture of historic homes during the 79th Historic Homes Tour in Old Town Alexandria., Sept. 25. Earlier in the month, on Sept. 11, you can also tour Mount Vernon and pick up some natural accessories for the home at the Mount Vernon Historic Plant & Garden Sale.
